Climate Change Impact
Understanding the changes affecting our planet.
Rising temperatures cause polar ice sheets and glaciers to melt, adding water to the oceans. Additionally, as water warms, it expands (thermal expansion), further contributing to sea-level rise and coastal flooding.
Climate change increases the intensity and frequency of extreme weather, including more severe hurricanes, prolonged droughts, intense heatwaves, and heavier rainfall causing flash floods.
Many species are unable to adapt quickly enough to changing temperatures or loss of habitat (like coral reefs or Arctic ice). This leads to shifts in migration patterns and increased risk of extinction.
Unpredictable rainfall patterns and extreme heat can lead to crop failures. Pests and diseases also thrive in warmer climates, threatening the stability of the global food supply chain.
